Comparative Soil Activity

  • First we will talk about how to start compost (Basic explanation).

  • Bring two labeled pots in. One will have regular soil in it and the other will have compost-based soil.

  • The students will be able to pack this themselves from compost they already have and soil from the school grounds or bring pre-packed pots

  • A seed of the same sort will be placed in each pot and will be monitored through out the project.

  • A student each week will be assigned with watering the plants and another will be assigned as bookkeeper, noting any observations in the plants’ growth.

  • After the immediate potting, we will discuss how compost helps the plant life cycle.
