  • Students will each receive a jar.

  • After labeling the jars and poking holes in the lids, we will go outside and collect natural, biodegradable materials like leaves.

  • Once inside, the students will choose a few items from the hub compost bin to place in their jars and a little water.

  • After creating our compost jars, we will talk about the specifics of decomposition.

  • These will be kept on the window sill to receive warmth, activating a humid environment at home or at school.

  • Once a week, during the decomposing process, the students will be able to add to their jars.

  • At the end of the year, students will be able to take this jar home and use it in their own gardens
